Ara Babloyan Receives Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina
1 / 5

On August 31, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan received Igor Crnadak, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Welcoming the Minister in the RA National Assembly, Ara Babloyan has noted that Armenia is interested in rapprochement of relations with the Balkan countries, and however the cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina is not at a satisfactory level today. The RA NA Speaker expressed hope that the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs will activate the inter-state dialogue.

Highlighting the establishment of the inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries, Ara Babloyan noted that the issue of the creation of Armenia-Bosnia and Herzegovina Friendship Group would be discussed in the RA National Assembly in future.

The RA NA Speaker also touched upon the possibility of cooperation between the two countries in the international instances and parliamentary platforms and constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue between the delegations.

Regarding the regional problems and the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy, Ara Babloyan has documented that Armenia sees the settlement of the NK conflict only in the OSCE Minsk Group format.

In his word the RA NA Speaker stated: “I am equally sorry for the losses of both sides, which are senseless, as there is still no diplomatic solution. Armenia seeks to establish and preserve good neighbourly relations in the region.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the structure of the parliament and the government of his country and the peculiarities of the activities of the state government bodies to Ara Babloyan.

Emphasizing the relations in the region, Igor Crnadak referred to the establishment of the peace and political balance after the four-year war in his country.

Underscoring the importance of strengthening the relations with the neighbours for two countries, the Minister noted: “We know what the conflict is, and we have our principle on the NK conflict – support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group. We hope that the solution of that issue will stem from the interests of the two countries, as well as the region.”

At the end of the meeting the interlocutors talked about the perspectives of cooperation between the two countries, the further development of the relations with the EU and the issues relating to the activation of the inter-parliamentary ties.
